So now Hallow’s End is over and we farmed Healess Horseman’s Mount nearly every day in a fixed group with alts and friends. We farmed it about 10 days with 20-40 kills each and the the Scarlet Monastery Graveyard looked like this:
There were like 30-40 Sinsiter Squaslings and Hallowed Helms, lots of Helms, Swords and Brooms but not a single “The Horseman’s Reins”. Got to love RNG!
So we finally did a Tribute to Insanity today, Trial of the Grand Crusader without any wipes and 50 tries remaining! The Anub’arak fight becomes so very tense at this point, because any mistake can mess things up and cause a wipe.
Personally I am not a fan of this limited tries per boss strategy, due to the extreme delays it may cause to wait for cooldowns and, which is even worse, the huge frustration that comes with a wipe.
Not like Ravencrest is a particular stable Realm, but we have many players with random disconnects here and there, especially hunters and rogues which have the particular important job of misdirecting adds to the tanks. A little disconnect may cause a wipe and ruin Insanity.
In the end you are never happy that you killed Anub in 49 tries, which is still better than most guilds manage. Instead you are insanely frustrated by a mistake. Imo Blizzard should think this over and find more suitable ways to create challenges.
For some reason I forgot to take a Screenshot of this, but here is the WoL Log:
We almost forgot about Alone in the Darkness and decided to give it a try again. It turned out to be still somewhat challenging and we almost made it in a clean kill!
Doh, I lost the Roll on Mimiron’s Head, but there is always another try! Anyway Gz to <Borked> for Alone in the Darkness! Without the help of any Watchers!
Edit: I found it quite funny, but here is a picture fo our second kill:
As you can see it was another flawless kill! But who cares as long as the Boss is down!
On Tuesday evening I decided to try to see how I could do in Molten Core on my Paladin. While some bosses seem to not be a real threat, Gehennas and Golemagg turned out to be somewhat tricky. It took me 3 hours to clear the whole place and a fair share of deaths to get the proper strategies for each boss, but in the end I managed ot get everything down.
To make the run perfect I got the achievement and the Eye of Sulfuras in the first run – I am such a lucky guy!
Borked Guild did it again! It finally payed off polishing our tactics on Anub’arak, final boss in the Trial of the Grand Crusader. We were consistently bringing him into Phase 3 and got on our first kill “A Tribute to Skill” with 35 tries remaining last Monday.
Now we even managed to improve our success and got “A Tribute to Mad Skill”, by killing the ugly bug with 48 tries remaining. Too bad that we had two stupid wipes before, but that leaves room for progress next reset! Really well done Borked!
Here is a Screenshot of our damagemeter:
P.S.: If you happen to be an experienced and skilled Holy Paladin or Rogue you might like to head to borked.eu and send in an application!
Patch 3.3 has been applied to the Public Test Realm. The Fire Nova Totem wil be removed and instead we get an AoE fire Nova Spell. You can find the complete Patch Notes here.
Shamans
- Fire Nova Totem: This totem has been replaced with a new spell, Fire Nova, which is available at the same ranks as the old Fire Nova Totem. Existing characters will automatically learn this new spell in place of the totem. With a Fire Totem active, shamans will be able to use Fire Nova (fire magic) to emit the same area-of-effect damage as the old Fire Nova Totem from the active Fire Totem, not consuming the totem in the process. Fire Nova will activate a 1.5-second global cooldown when used and has a 10-second spell cooldown. The caster must be within 30 yards of the totem to use this ability, but does not need to be within line of sight of the totem.
- Elemental Combat
- Improved Fire Nova Totem: Renamed Improved Fire Nova. This talent now provides an additional 10/20% damage to the spell and reduces the cooldown by 2/4 seconds.
- Glyph of Fire Nova Totem: Renamed Glyph of Fire Nova. This glyph now reduces the cooldown of Fire Nova by 3 seconds.
Since these changes are quite interesting I have been to the PTR and made a little video demonstrating the new Fire Nova spell.
Since Fire Nova, costs about 1k Mana it is really no option as enhancement to use it glyphed, while the Talents with 20% more damage sound quite interesting. Especially since we will end up with a 6 second cooldown which will blend in nicely to lava lash and our shocks. As you can see I am busy pressing buttons all the time so I am not sure if the new glyph will do enhancement any good.
I used the following Talents as a quick test:
http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?shaman#dpU7hnF_f0wSu,NOr-He,10522
Fire Nova each 6 sec will cost 10k Mana per minute. For this reason I took talents like Improved Storm Strike and Elemental Focus, which seems to be the only way to keep enough Mana to be able to use it each cooldown.
Basically I used 2 points from Lightning Shield and put them in into Improved Fire Nova, not sure where to use the last Talent Point. Either 1 point in improved Storm Strike, Elemental Focus.
Edit: On the recent ICC tests it seems that we are much more competetive now in damage again.
