Myrddin vs Yor’sahj the Unsleeping 25m heroic

Borked has stopped raiding late 4.2 and at first I’d like to thank Group Therapy on EU-Ravencrest for letting me raid with them! The past weeks, especially after the heroic Madness of Deathwing with an Enhancement Shaman topping DPS I got quite a few whispers asking me how Enhancement AoE exactly works. Having this covered in a previous post I thought it would be nice to demonstrate how the AOE looks from an Enhancement Shaman point of view.
Yors’sahj the Unsleeping in 25 man heroic Version seems like a perfect encounter.

Things to Consider

Before you complain about tunneling the boss, I didn’t! Enhancement DPS suffers a lot from target switching and I was on boss most of the time, except if blobs were about to reach the boss or if the Mana Void needed some beating.

Even if I was able to get to get a top 20 ranking for this fight my gear is still pretty bad, mostly Tier 12 and some raid finder drops. Also I ruined the initial AoE on 2 transitions. With hat in mind there is huge room for improvement!

Tips for the Fight

Glyph of Flameshock
Increases the duration of your Flame Shock by 50%.
Glyp of Fire Nova
Increases the radius of your Fire Nova spell by 5 yards.

These 2 Glyphs are very important to max your AoE, but single target DPS will suffer.

Isn’t better to use unleashed elements before fire nova and then flame shock ?

  I don’t have done the math, tbh. If it is only a single Fire Nova you get off before adds in general are down then you are probably right. But if there are so many targets where you constantly battle the AoE cap it may be more dps to spread 5 – with unleash empowered – Flame Shocks over the whole duration. I simply don’t have my UI optimized for AoE’ing.

Hi! first I would like to thank you for a great blog! I have a question regarding gear choices. You seem to ignore t13 completely, are the t12 set bonuses that much better? Oh and a weapon question aswell, you use 2*heroic will, is that preffered over LFR No-khaleds? Thank you! /mack

  Thanks for the Feedback. Gear is always a bit depending on Luck, etc. From my calculations there is no upgrade from hc T12 to normal T13. In fact, check my Orc Shaman Stormforged, the 4 piece bonus is not worth even keeping T13 Raid Finder vs normal Sporebat Gloves … I also have the t13 head (normal I could wear to keep the bonus) … but simming suggests that it is not worth it. If you are going hc T12 then the only upgrade is 2 piece hc T13 and later 4 piece (due to lack of alternatives).
  Also for weapons, I did not have the luck to get the normal “No’Kaled, the Elements of Death”, yet. While I have the LFR ones I still prefer normal “Morningstar of Heroic Will” which seem overall the better choice. Lack of stats, dropping mastery levels (reducing the damage on procs), no use in AoE (our strong point).
  Once I get the normal ones though I’ll switch obviously, higher Item level, much higher proc (16k at my mastery level, 20k with trinket).
  Sadly my current raid does not recognize the current state of Enhancement Shamans which means basically that I am warming the bench a lot.
